For this exercise I want you to download this file CROP IT onto your desktop. Once you have it on your desktop, open Photoshop and crop each photo the way you see it should be cropped. Once you crop it, do a Save As and name each new cropped image as crop01, crop02, and so on. Upload the before and after photos to your Weebly site. Please fill out this assessment about cropping.
Project One - Negative Space
For your first project I would like for you to show me a cool composition for Negative Space. Put simply, negative spaceis the area which surrounds the main subject in yourphoto(the main subject is known as the "positivespace"). I would like for you to add this one picture to your website as well as submit it to me with your Artist Statement. Please complete this assessment to further your understanding of negative space.
Project Two - Historical Fiction
I would like you to become comfortable in Photoshop. With this project I want you to find 2 photos online, download them onto your desktop, open Photoshop and create one photo combining elements of each photo. I will show you how to do this in Photoshop.
Project Three - Mood
One of the most powerful, yet difficult, elements to master in photographyis capturing emotion and feeling. A really great image is one that conveys amoodand pulls the viewer into the scene. Your next project must do just that, capture a mood. I do not want a simple photo of a person smiling and you telling me it is a happy mood. Look at lighting and exposure to get the mood you want. As with your other two projects, you need to upload this photo to your own website.
Project Four - Photo Letters
The parameters of the project are simple:
Students must look for objects and shapes that resemble letters. They may not take photos of actual letters.
Students cannot stage their photos or retouch their findings. They must capture the “letters” as-is.
The letters do not have to be captured in order. However, students should keep track of which letters they’ve captured as they go along.
When finished, students must create the word "Delta, DELTA or delta" in one composition.
Project Five - Eyebombing
Eyebombing is the art of sticking “googly eyes” onto an inanimate object in the public sphere, in a way that cleverly lends the object the appearance of a living creature.
THE RULES: 1. Only images of inanimate objects with wiggle eyes - NOT stickers. 2. Only images taken in the public space. 3. No eyes on eyes.
Project Six - Color Accent
Take a photograph of something you want to make B&W with a splash of color. You need to plan your time wisely, you will take a photo as well as be spending some time in Photoshop, so do not wait till the due date to begin to work on this. Composition is PARAMOUNT on this project. You will need to understand how to shoot your photo. Understand that your focal point should just be one subject and know what you want in color.
Project Seven - Rust
Take a photograph of something you that had rust on it. You are simply not shooting something that has the color of rust, but the the redox reaction of iron and oxygen in the presence of water or air moisture kind. Again, make your your focal point has rust on it, like a nail head or a lock, Composition is everything here. Submit it to me and upload it to your Weebly site, and I also want your Artist Statement.
Final Exam
