Welcome to Photography One S1. Today I will review my syllabus and go over class expectations. I will also explain how I grade your projects and will review my grading rubric. My biggest challenge is to get you to be creative. The first few weeks are spent getting you to do just that, be creative. I am not worried about your artistic skills, I just want you to be comfortable with being creative and be able to express and defend your ideas. Nothing is wrong in my class. At the VERY LEAST, I want you to have your Weebly site up and running so you can add your work to it as we go along. Here is HOW YOU DO IT.

This week will be dedicated to getting you ready for your final. We will dive into the 5 photography principals so you will have a solid understanding of them.
Well, if you read this blog you will know that today you will need to shoot for a Photo Walk, and the subject must be RED. No RedBull, no Photoshop, just Red. Your subject must be Red. I am looking at your Creativity, Risk Taking, Composition and yes, I even hate to say this, FOCUS. PLEASE make sure your photo is in focus. Good Luck!
Well, look at where we are. Last couple of weeks and you now have your final project to work on. You have all done great and I look forward to your final photo. This photo should show me what you have learned all term. You all know how your final exam will look so hang in there and finish strong!
Great job on the vocab test last week. This week we are working on Hierarchy in photography. I will show you examples and talk you through my expectations for this project. I would like to have the photos turned in by Friday so I can do a gallery walk on Friday. Keep up the good work guys.
This week I want you to explore the next principle of photography, contrast. Please get me your photos by weeks end so I can include your work in the Slide Show on Friday. Now, go play and take so cool photos. If you missed be chit-chat about contrast...here it is.
There are a few reasons why I think photo walks are a great idea. Personally, my sense of creativity is boosted by movement and exposure to changing scenery. When I’m by myself I see my surroundings from a different perspective. When I’m with a group of people I enjoy seeing things from their perspective. I am challenged to use my photographic skills and tools in a different way and react to changing situations. At the end of the walk I take pride in the new discoveries that I’ve made. And thus, this is what you are doing today. Go outside and shoot anything you find interesting. Your photo is due to me at the end of class, you can pair up with someone if you do not have a camera.
Now that you have a good idea about composition and rule of thirds I want you to go out and begin shooting for your next project, Balance. You will need to show me you understand Balance in your composition. Please submit your photos in the Projects section of this site. This project is due Friday.
